National Times- Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung hosted a reception for World Bank President Jim Yong Kim, who is on a working visit to Vietnam on February 23.

At the meeting, PM Nguyen Tan Dung highly appreciated the WB’s remarkable cooperation with Vietnam in its process of socioeconomic development, particularly sustainable development and fight against poverty. He also wants to continue to receiving the WB’s collaboration, especially in resources development, policy consultation, and technical assistance during the development goals’ successful implementation.
The Vietnamese leader also highlighted the close collaboration between Vietnam authorities and World Bank in constructing the report titled “Vietnam 2035: Toward Prosperity, Creativity, Equality, and Democracy” with its specific goals, recommendations, being consistent with Vietnam’s overall orientation.
PM Dung expressed his warm welcome to Jim Yong Kim for visiting Vietnam to present the report.
For his part, President Jim Yong Kim said that, Vietnam has gained many achievements, especially in socioeconomic development, poverty reduction, development gap’s restrictions, and people lives’ improvement. WB always follows and admires Vietnam as the country has become a great success story in the world.
WB is willing to work closely with Vietnam and believe that Vietnam will become a high-income developed country, he added.
The guest also affirmed that, WB would support Vietnam in approaching capital at lower interest rates in a long time to develop renewable energy sources, promote education and health sectors. For these goals, WB will assist Vietnam in the resources, said Jim Yong Kim.
At the end of meeting, the guest presented the report "Vietnam 2035: Toward Prosperity, Creativity, Equality, and Democracy" to PM Dung, which gives suggestions, recommendations, orientations and solutions for Vietnam in the time to come
