National Times- The National Tourism Year 2016 was launched yesterday in the Mekong River Delta province of Kien Giang.
The event was organized by Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, Upper U Minh National Park.
On this occasion, organizers also held a ceremony to welcome Upper U Minh National Park recognition as a World Ramsar site and festival of Chieu Anh Cac Literary Coterie.

Kien Giang, gifted with many beautiful and famous lanscapes with unique cultural values, was chosen as the host of National Tourism Year 2016 under the theme “Discovering the Southern Land”. Upper U Minh National Park of Kien Giang is an important mangrove forest and one of three prioritized locations of wetland conservation in Mekong River Delta.
With its importance in conservation of wetland ecosystem, natural resource, cultural and historical values, Upper U Minh National Park was recognized as the world’s 2,228 Ramsar sites. This is an important event, a great honor but also the responsibility of Kien Giang Provincial authorities and people in conserving typical values of Upper U Minh National Park.
According to Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Huynh Vinh Ai, organizing National Tourism Year 2016 well will contribute in promoting images, improving tourism product quality, raise awareness of authorities and people of Kien Giang in particular and in the whole country in general about Vietnam tourism promotion process
